CUSD Special Education Department

Cabrillo Unified School District (CUSD) provides special education services for students with exceptional needs ages 3 through 22 years of age.  San Mateo County Office of Education provides services along with Golden Gate Regional Center to serve birth to 3 year olds.

Students with a disability will be identified through assessment, observation and/or interviews by an individualized education program (IEP) team there are 13 eligibility criteria to be considered.  A student with a disability will qualify for special education services if the impairment adversely affects educational performance; when a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) cannot be provided with modification of the regular school program.

CUSD has a full continuum of programs to meet the needs of students with IEPs from preschool, with speech, occupational therapy (O.T.), behavioral support, Resource Specialist Programs (RSP) and Special Day Classes. (SDC)  There are 6 SDC programs from preschool through 22.  RSP, Speech, O.T., and behavior support services are available at all of our school sites.
